Badminton is a popular Commonwealth Games sport and India hopes to get some medals here.
The game was first played at the 1966 Kingston Commonwealth Games. Both men and women compete in singles and doubles events.
There is a preliminary knockout draw in the singles and doubles competitions to throw up the shuttlers who shall compete for medals.
The team event involves a round-robin elimination. There is no mixed doubles competition.
